HOPKINS, Ernestine was born December 14, 1920 at the Strong family home near Brooke, Ontario. She died peacefully of cancer September 23, 2007. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Effie Strong, her husband, Ormond with whom she shared forty-eight unforgettable years, her sister, Florence, and brother, Harold. Surviving are her sister, Irene, and brother, Willard, her son, Michael and his wife Mary Lee, and her daughter Sareena, her husband Nigel, and Ernestine's beloved granddaughter, Ella Grace. Ernestine chose to not have a funeral, but left the following message: I want to express my thanks to all my friends and extended family who have enriched my life by their love and friendship, their joy, their wisdom and their humour, those who shared my travels in far-off places, and the friends who, with me, enjoyed music, good books, art, fine food and wine as well as those intangible qualities which are the essence of a rich and fulfilling life. And so, until we meet again, may God keep you in the palm of His hand. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Upstream Inc., Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada or the charity of your choice.
