TOWNSEND, C.D. Robin. WW II Veteran with the Royal Canadian Navy. We regret to announce the passing of Robin (Clarence Dudley) Townsend, in Perth hospital, with his family by his side, on Monday September 23, 2007, at the age of eighty-five. Robin Townsend, most beloved husband of Jinny Townsend, (nee Rees); dearest father of Kathy (Gord) Page, of Newmarket, Ontario, Tim (Jane) Townsend, of Calgary, Alberta, and Philip (Denise) Townsend, of Montreal, Quebec., dear brother of Grant Townsend and Cherished Grandpa to Tanya and Natalie. Predeceased by his parents, Dudley and Jessie Townsend, his brothers Bob and Donald, and his sisters Marjorie and Nancy. Robin saw active service in the navy during World War II, and was very well known on the Montreal waterfront as a ship chandler for 40 years. Robin will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his many friends and extended family. To honour Robin's wishes, there will be no visitation. Memorial service celebrating the life of Robin, will be held in the O'Dacre Family Funeral Home Chapel, 15 Victoria Street, Perth, on Friday September 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. There will be an private interment at a later date. All are invited to the O'Dacre Family Funeral Home Reception Centre for a time of refreshments and friendship after the service. In lieu of flowers to honour the exceptional care that Robin received from the nursing staff at the hospital, donations in Robin's memory can be made to the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital (GWM Site), Perth.
