LYSECKI, James Edward - It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of James (Jim) Edward Lysecki on August 3, 2007 after a long battle with the complications of diabetes. Beloved husband of Carol. Proud and loving father of Marlene and David Lysecki. Dearest brother of Elaine and husband Warren Brown of Toronto, and Burton Lysecki and wife Mary of Winnipeg. Caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Mary and the late Lyall Harvey. Predeceased by his parents John and Irene Lysecki of St. James. Jim will be missed by all his friends and relatives and all who knew him and loved him. Jim graduated from University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts and Commerce degrees. He began his working life with the Hudson's Bay Company but soon chose the profession of teaching. He was a good teacher and spent most of his career at LaSalle Secondary School in Sudbury, Ontario, where he lived for thirty years. He was an avid photographer and consummate storyteller. He took great joy in his summers at the “Ilse of Merganser“ in Trout Lake, Ontario, fishing, sailing, playing cribbage, picking blueberries and inviting his many lake friends to his sauna parties which were a Trout Lake tradition. At home in Sudbury, he recreated the wilderness in his backyard by sprinkling crocuses, trilliums and planted daffodils among the trees. Jim retired to Winnipeg in 1999 to be closer to family and his island. A memorial service was held in Winnipeg at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on Thursday, August 23, 2007. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME Winnipeg, Manitoba (204) 885-9715
