Joseph Karl, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Monday, October 8, 2007. He was 80. Born in Teeswater, son of the late William "Bill" and Ellen (nee Willie) Karl. Joseph was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Fondly remembered by his cherished wife Norma (nee Dickert) Karl for 56 years, children Paul (Sheila) Karl of St. Jacobs, Joan (Dale) Klein of Mildmay, Joyce (Eric) Weigel of Neustadt, Marylou (Darryl) Klein of Mildmay, Peter (Kathy) Karl of Newmarket, Robert (Loraine) Karl, Thomas (Heather) Karl, Linda (Andy) Lehman, Nancy (James) Schmidt, all of Hanover, Keith (Shelley) Karl of Guelph and Patricia (Bill) Adams of Waterloo; 29 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Also survived by his sister Bernadette Jank of Mississauga, sisters-in-law Linda Karl of London, Valera Dickert of Hanover and Ruth (George) Scott of Florida, brother-in-law Wilton (Theresa) Dickert of Ayton. Predeceased by his brother Wilfred Karl. Visitation was held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Wednesday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, with Vigil Rights at 8:30 pm. A Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 11:00 am, at Holy Family Church, Hanover. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery, Hanover. Pallbearers were Paul Karl, Peter Karl, Robert Karl, Thomas Karl, Keith Karl and Dale Klein. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Hanover & District Hospital Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
