BURK, Faith Sharon Theresa, “The Pie Lady“ - passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus on Wednesday October 3, 2007. Sharon was born in Ottawa 80 years ago to the late Blanche (Voyce) and William Parrington. She is predeceased by her husband Howard Burk (1979). Surviving are her children Louise Hord of London, Tom Burk and his wife Cathy of Blenheim, Sheila Allman and her husband Peter of Sarnia and her son-in-law Garnet Rumble of Blenheim. Missing their grandmother and great grandmother are 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Art Parrington of Ottawa and Bill Parrington and his wife Audrey of Ottawa. Missing her life-long friend is Betty Srokosz. Sharon is predeceased by her daughter Susan Rumble (1999), a grandson Cyrus Burk (1973) and a son-in-law Murray Hood (1989). She is also predeceased by brothers Frank Parrington, Erwin Parrington and Gerald Parrington as well as sister's Lyssa Thompson and Evelynn McQuewn, and by her God Parents Gordon and Bertha Armstrong. In addition to being noted as one of Blenheim's “Citizens of the Year“, Sharon was also a very active volunteer and supporter of Blenheim and District Minor Hockey. Over time, she became well known throughout the area as being the “Pie Lady“. A title well deserved after having made over 25,000 pies for Minor Hockey's fundraising efforts. The Burk family will receive friends for visiting at the BLENHEIM COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 60 Stanley Street, Blenheim, on Friday October 5, 2007 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service for Sharon will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday October 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Terris of the Blenheim Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Burk Cemetery. Friends wishing to make a donation in memory of Sharon are asked to consider the Minor Hockey Association.
