Mrs. Mary E. Patton (Nee Hunt), of Durham, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Friday September 21, 2007 in her 74th year. Beloved wife of George R. Patton (predeceased). Dear mother of Larry and wife Nina of Edmonton; Terry of Edmonton; Elizabeth (Pietz) and Donn of Durham; Steven of Edmonton; William and Jeffrey of Toronto; Dale and Mike of Toronto; Donald and Cathy of Hanover. Also survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one sister, Jill Staneland of Scarborough; predeceased by brothers William and Arthur Hunt. Mary was born in Bentinck Township on July 15, 1934, daughter of Herbert Hunt and the former Evelyn Belanger. After following her husband during his career in the Canadian Armed Forces, they settled west of Durham. Funeral service was held ay the McCulloch - Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Tuesday at 1 pm. Rev. Kirby Constable officiated. Donn Roberts played the organ. Eulogies were given by family members. Honourary pallbearers were her dear friends Hazel Mighton and Carol Lawrence. Pallbearers were Ron Reay, Don Mighton, David Hunt, Tom Harrison, Cliff McKelvey and Don Woods. Flower bearers were Cody, Brittany, Melissa (all grandchildren), and Bill Caldwell (family friend). Interment was held at Durham Cemetery. A special thank you to Dr. Denyer and extended thanks to doctors, nurses and caregivers who made Mother feel comfortable, and a deep thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lorentz and Mr. and Mrs. E. Daley, Mom's neighbours, who helped in her times of need.
