Edwin Gregg Betts MCDOUGALL

McDOUGALL, Edwin Gregg Betts - of West Goshen. Edwin Gregg Betts McDougall, 82, of West Goshen, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his immediate family on 10/6/07 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Born in 1925 in Chatham, Ontario Canada and raised in Blenheim, Ontario Canada. He married Marilyn Christene Grant of Chatham, Ontario Canada on 10/1/1949 who predeceased him 2005. Son of the late Earl Gregg McDougall and the late Edith May Betts McDougall. He was predeceased by sister Charlotte McDougall Pearce and brother John Alexander McDougall. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Ann McDougall of Newtown Square, PA., a son, E. Gregg McDougall Jr., and his wife Beth and their children Meaghan, Owen, Jack and Avery Grace, all of West Chester. A niece, Carolyn Pearce Maynes and her family in Ottawa, Ontario and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in London, Chatham, Blenheim, Thornton Ontario, Nova Scotia, Amherst Island, Rhode Island, Michigan and Hawaii. Ed joined Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 at Windsor, Ontario and spent the war years in England as a leading Aircraftsman repairing airplane engines for the RCAF and RAF. He was honorably discharged at Lachine, Quebec on 7/11/1946. He and his wife immigrated to the US and he joined the Chrysler Corporation in 1957 and became a US Citizen. He was eventually transferred to Pennsylvania and resided in Marple Township for 28 years. He retired from Chrysler in 1980. He was past president of Marple Newtown Lions Club (1976), a former member of the Stone Harbor Lions Club and is currently a member of Honey Brook Lions Club. He was also past Commodore of Harbor North Yacht Club (1976) in Elkton, MD. He was a member of the Brandywine Hospital chapter of Senior Circle and a member of the West Chester Senior Center. He was a former member of Marple Presbyterian Church and a current member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Frazer, PA. He loved his family, boating, skiing, camping and the Philadelphia Flyers. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at the funeral home. Interment is private.
