BILLYARD, Alexander - The family of Mr. Alexander Billyard of Welland announces, with sadness, the passing of Alex at the Welland Hospital on Friday, October 5th, 2007 in his 85th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Joan (2003) and daughter Catherine (2002). Beloved father of Gary of Ottawa, Allan (Joan) and Sandy (Sandra) all of Fonthill. Loving grandfather of Cindy, Greg, Jennifer, Sean, Alyson, Tara, Cindy, Stephen and five great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers Jack (Judy), Jim (Doreen) and sisters Ethel, Betty and Elsie (Scott). Alex was an executive employee at Atlas Steels in Welland for 40 plus years. He was very active in minor sports in Welland, serving on the executive as well as coaching. In his time he was regarded as one of the better athletes in Welland, participating in all sports but most notably baseball. Alex was an avid golfer and was very instrumental in the family's involvement in the golf industry locally. He was also an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church. The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and the wonderfully compassionate nurses at the Welland Hospital who took care of Mr. Billyard during his many visits over the past year. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to visit the family at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland, on Tuesday, October 9th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Reverend Dan Bennett will conduct the funeral service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 77 Division Street, Welland, on Wednesday, October 10th at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church columbarium will follow. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or the Welland Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. 10856351
