SPALTON, Philip - After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Philip Spalton passed away with his loving family at his side at the Welland Hospital on October 13, 2007. Devoted husband of 59 years to Donna (nee O'Neill) Spalton. Loving father of David Spalton (late Janice) and Paula Peterson (Ray) both of Welland. Dear brother of Helen (George Van Wallegham) of Kenora, Ontario. He will be sadly missed by his 5 grandchildren Jennifer, Christopher, Sheila, Theresa and Peter Spalton, and 2 great grandchildren Xavier and Zoey. Fondly remembered by his sister-in-laws Betty, Marguerite, Cecile and Elaine and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Clara Spalton, four brothers Tom, Edward, Frank, Henry and one sister Laura. Philip was a WWII Veteran and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2806 (Kenora). He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the unconditional love he had for his family. He enjoyed nature, fishing, boating and a good game of bridge. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main St., Welland Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held in Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 300 Chaffey St., Welland on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the Canadian Cancer Society will be appreciated by the family. 10863866
