SOFRANKO, Michael Andrew - Peacefully on Sunday, October 21, at the Clarion Nursing Home in Stoney Creek, formerly of Welland, beloved husband of 56 years to the late Helen Clare Marton. Michael was born in Hungary in 1927 and came to Canada two years later. Dearly loved father of Lillian Somerville (Kerry) of Hamilton and Nancy Schaeffer of Welland. Cherished grandfather of Trevor Schrock, Matthew Schrock, Katharine Somerville, Andrew Somerville, Gregory Schaeffer and Stephanie Schaeffer. Survived by sister-in- law Elizabeth Kondor (late Frank) of Stoney Creek; brother-in-law Elmer Dudash (late Mary) of California; stepbrother Nicholas Nagy (Gladys) of Mississauga; and brother of the late Peter Sofranko of Tillsonburg. Special thanks to Dr. Ian Davis and Dr. Rick Ambis for their skill and compassion; and to the nursing staff at the Clarion for the extraordinary level of care and kindness given to Michael. The family will receive friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Wednesday at 12 o'clock, where a funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2 o'clock.
