HERBERT, Vera - It is with great sadness that the family of Vera announce her passing on Wednesday October 24, 2007 at the Port Colborne General Hospital. Beloved wife and best friend of Harry Herbert for 71 years. Loving Mother of Barry (Shirley) of Overland Park, Kansas, Richard (Judie) of Grimsby, and Cathy (Jack O'Brien) of Ridgeway. Proud Grandmother of Lesly Lewandowski of Kansas, Lisa (Randy) Robinson of Oklahoma, Richard Herbert of Kansas, Peter Herbert (Nadie Bozajic) of France, and Glen (Laura) Herbert of Burlington. Great Grandmother of Joshua Robinson and Hannah Robinson of Oklahoma, and Grace Herbert and James Herbert of Burlington. Predeceased by infant daughter Susan, parents Violet and Russell Howick. Sister of Russell (Betty) Howick of Port Colborne, and Evelyn Colbert of North Bay. Vera was born in Welland Junction in 1915, moving to Welland, Fort Erie and eventually Crystal Beach in 1941. She was a proud member of People's United Church in Crystal Beach until it was closed, then joining the First United Church in Sherkston. Her devotion to her home, family and church were foremost during her remarkable long life. She worked tirelessly at Church for Christmas Teas, and Summer Bazaars. Vera's family will receive friends at THE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 722 Ridge Road North, Ridgeway from eleven a.m. until one p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel at one o'clock on Saturday with a reception to follow immediately after. Private interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Ridgeville. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Church in Sherkston. 10877816
