ALLEN, John Chesley. Born Montreal, December 26, 1922 died peacefully with family at his bedside October 4, 2007. Deeply mourned by his wife Diane Carlson (Lewin) Allen, son Ted and his wife Helen. Also lovingly remembered by sons and daughters Nicholas Lewin (Lisa Lafrance), Susan Lewin (Roland RomColthoff), Debbie Lewin (Ben Walmsley), James Lewin (Michelle Lewin), and by grandchildren Francis Lewin (deceased), Erica, Antonia & Georgia Lewin; Ally & Nicholas RomColthoff; Will, Honor, Able & Grace Walmsley; Keir & Christopher-Davis Lewin, Jack, Benjamin, Cole and Hanna Allen. Professional Engineer and teacher, he worked at Northern Electric, RCA Victor & Pratt and Whitney. Chesley loved the Laurentians and managed Spencer-Lewin Company as well as systems on Mount Marabou. He was an intellectual, quick of wit and humor, charitable and generous, he cared deeply for his family. Of Newfoundland and English descent, he valued his origins and his long loyal residence of Saint Lambert. Visitation at Mount Royal Funeral Complex Sunday, October 7 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., service at 4:30 p.m. with proper reception to follow. Interment at Mount Royal Cemetery. The Old Brewery Mission & the Salvation Army were of special concern to Chesley; in lieu of flowers donations are welcomed. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 10/6/2007
