Carmine (Mike) Pangia April 18, 1923 - January 27, 2001 It is with great sadness that Mike cycled his final race. A race against cancer that he could not win. Surrounded by his family and loving friends, Mike in his 78th year, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 27th, 2001. Predeceased by his father Teodozio and is mother Giuseppina of Rotello, Italy. Survived by his loving wife Elodia, cherished daughter Connie and her husband Nick Catalano and adoring grandchildren Michael, Justin and Kayla and dear friend Rocky. Sadly missed by his brother Jimmy Pangia and wife Lina and sisters and brothers-in-law Tony and Margaret Giardino, Joe and Gina Molinaro, Pio and Anna Giardino, Lucia and Enzo Scarponi of Hamilton, and Grazietta and the late Carlo Giardino of Rocca San Giovanni, Italy and many affectionate nieces and nephews. A sincere and caring thank you to his Doctor and dear friend Dr. Bashir Khambalia and his wife Katie, the St. Elizabeth Home Healthcare Services, especially nurses Amy and Dr. Leo Winter and Dr. Woods for their kindness and compassion. Also to Maxine Mascia and Inez for making his final days peaceful and dignified. In lieu of flowers, the family will gratefully appreciate donations to Villa Italia Foundation, Hamilton, a charity of the Order of the Sons of Italy, Trieste Lodge #4 where Mike appreciatively served for almost 50 years . Mike was a builder who took pride in his trade and was greatly admired by his colleagues and many clients. He brought the same values to his personal life where he built many warm and caring relations. Family and friends may call at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E (near James) on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers on Monday evening at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
