Jean-Claude M. Sicard AMHERST, NS - The death of Jean-Claude M. Sicard, age 76, of Amherst, NS, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Monday, October 15, 2007. Born in St. George De Champlain, Quebec in 1931, he was a son of the late Henri and Donalda (Collins) Sicard. Jean-Claude worked for the Leo Bernard Margarine Plant, then G.S. Wood Transport Trucking and finally Armour Transport as a driver for 17 years. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed carpentry and the outdoors, and spent much time walking in the woods and camping. Jean-Claude was a devoted family man. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Marie-Paule (nee Francoeur), Amherst; two daughters, Odette (Clayton) Martin, Amherst, Michelle (Gerry) Steeves, Riverview; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Seth) Herrett, Natasha (Matthew) Richard, Erica and Emily Steeves; five great grandchildren, Ethan & Alexander Herrett, Nadya, MacKenzie & Rory Richard; two sisters, Gisele Comtois, Trois Rivieres, PQ, Pierette Rivard, St. George de Champlain, PQ; one brother, Evon (Sylvia), Waterbury, Connecticut; sister-in-laws, Janine Dube, Trois Rivieres, PQ and Suzanne Sicard, Waterbury, Connecticut; brother- in-law, Bertrand (Germaine) Francoeur, Proulxville, PQ; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Claire Hill, Denise Neault, Georgette Dumont and Madeleine Grenier; brothers Robert and Roger. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 68 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Charles site of the Holy Family Parish on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 10 am, Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial will take place in the Saint Charles - Nativity Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation may do so to the Canadian Diabetic Association, Canadian Cancer Society, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.furlongjones.ca October 17, 2007
