PELLA, Riccardo - In loving memory and celebration of Riccardo Pella, who passed away Sunday October 28, 2007 at the age of 101. Born in Corva, Pordenone, Italy April 26, 1906. Beloved husband of Genoeffa (Bortolussi) predeceased August 23, 1992. Loving Father of Dennis (wife Annie), Iole (husband Michael Luciw), Reggie predeceased 1971 (wife Leatha Lloyd), Shirley (husband Aldo Favot), Herman (wife Pat) and Mary Anne (husband Norm Piche). Cherished Nono of Allan Luciw (wife Trish), Kim Luciw-Kater (husband Kent Kater), Sandra Pella, Deborah Smith (husband Darron), Dean Pella, Tyler Pella (wife Teresa), Mathew Piche, Amanda Piche, Lori Ranson, Christa Favot and 10 very special great grand children. Special Zio of Secondo and Gianna Moschette and Family as well as, Dear Friend and godfather of George Bardeggia. Dear Son of Italia (Babuin) 1883 - 1955 and Lino Pella 1873 - 1955 Udine Italy. Dear Brother of Antonio Pella (1901 - 1959), Ernesto Pella (1903 - 1988), Caterina Pella (Moschetta 1901 - 1992), Luigia Pella (Turchet 1911 - 2001), Vittoria Pella (Turchett 1916 - 2001). Riccardo came to Canada in the Spring of 1922 at the age of sixteen arriving in Quebec. He married Genoeffa Bortoluzzi February 15, 1930 at St. Joseph Church in Fort William. They raised six children. He was employed with Inco from 1933 to 1970. Having too much vitality at age 65 to stay retired, he took employment with CKSO for 10 years. Riccardo was a master of story telling with tales of his travel and work experiences in Fort William, Kitchener, British Columbia and Sudbury as a young man. He always had a positive outlook on life with a sense of humour, and thirst for learning. He had a love of music and was a master of his accordion. He had a lifelong love of flowers and gardening, music, wine making, travel and the outdoors. He was a faith filled man who enjoyed reading scripture and recited passages from memory. He will always be remembered for his enthusiasm, his vitality, his optimism and wonderful positive outlook on life will be sadly missed! Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Hope Church Friday November 2nd, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation with interment in the family plot at the Sudbury Catholic Cemetery. Donations to: St. Joseph Foundation, (For The Healing Garden Retaining walls) 1250 South Bay Road, Sudbury, ON P3E 6L9. Friends may gather at the church after 1:45 Friday.
