JAMIESON, John (Jack) Andrew McCartney - The family announces with sorrow the passing of John (Jack) Andrew McCartney Jamieson, 83 years, Friday, November 9th, 2007 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph's Health Centre, Sudbury. Beloved husband of Mary Victoria Casas since 1967. Jack was born on November 25th, 1923 in Thornton, Ontario to LeRoy and Nora Jamieson. In 1925 his family moved to Loreburn, Saskatchewan where Jack spent 8 marvelous childhood years on a prairie wheat farm. The family moved back to Thornton in 1933. A proud Canadian, Jack joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941. He graduated as a pilot (Lancaster aircraft) and flew with “427 Lion Squadron - 6 Bomber Group“ completing a tour of duty in 1945. After the war he joined Currie-Hickock (Toronto) where he worked for 24 years doing design, marketing and managing in the men's wear industry. He led the company into manufacturing auto safety belts and was the first Canadian to ride the rocket test sled used to test the effectiveness of auto safety belts. Jack and Mary moved to Sudbury in 1972 where he began his own sales agency for men's and ladies' wear covering Northern and Eastern Ontario. He retired in 1988 and pursued hobbies - hunting, fishing and decoy carving. He was an ardent hockey and baseball fan. Jack is survived by sisters LeNore (Robert Halfnight) of Toronto, Eleanor (George Oreto) of Barrie and Sylvia (John Wilder) of Ancaster. He was predeceased by brother William (Ila) of Barrie. He will be sadly missed by his sister and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Prayers in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNDARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury Monday, November 12th, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Interment of ashes will take place in the Thornton Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the NEORCC or the Book of Remembrance Christ church, St. Jude's Ivy would be appreciated.
