SHEPPARD, Jane Newham (nee Fisher) - at Belleville General Hospital on October 26, 2007, at age 82. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Thomas Sheppard (January 2, 2007) and loving mother of Tom and Sally (Peter). Also survived by her sisters Ann Cooke (Stewart) and Sally Alton, brother Peter Fisher and many nieces and nephews. Jane was born in Burlington, Ontario, the first child of Paul and Evelyn Fisher. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto in 1948 and married Lloyd the same year. The young couple moved to Foxboro in 1953 and farmed there until 1973 when they moved to Belleville. Jane maintained her passion for creating art while devoting most of her time to her family and the farm. In later years she was able to spend more time creating and became a fibre artist, a passion she maintained until the end as a member of the Quinte Fibre Artists, a small group of active and skilled artists who regularly show and sell their work. Jane was also a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter in Belleville, a member of the Quinte Needlearts Guild, a past member of the Quinte Arts Council and other arts groups. She also enjoyed many years going to her cottage at Cloyne. Cremation. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, November 11 from 2-4 p.m. at 3 Dunnett Blvd., Belleville.
