RICE, Elaine - The family of Elaine Rice (nee Bennett) announces with great sorrow her sudden passing at Versa Care Lodge, Brantford, on Thursday, November 8, 2007 in her 94th year. Our mother will always be in our hearts and remembered for her kindness and loyalty to family and friends. She was a true lady. Beloved wife for 69 years of the late Edward J. “Ted” Rice (2006). Much loved mother of Paul and his wife Helen of Fergus, Sandra Martin and her husband John of Brantford, Julie Kozak and her husband Peter of Kitchener and predeceased by son Peter (1994). Loving grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren. Predeceased by 3 brothers, Ray, Howard and Harold Bennett. Elaine will be sadly missed by sisters-in-law, Leah Parsons and Marguerite Rice and nieces and nephews. Elaine was a longtime member of St. Andrew's (Zion) United Church where she belonged to the U.C.W. and the Friendship Club, and was a 50 year member of the A.M. Overholt Chapter of the I.O.D.E. Elaine's passion for knitting provided comfort for those in need. Her love of animals and flowers brought her great pleasure. The family will receive friends at McCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME 495 Park Rd. N., Brantford, on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday at 1:30 p.m. followed by interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Allan Lynk of St. Andrew's United Church will officiate. If wished, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated.
