COOLEY, William Ronald (Bob) of Stratford and formerly Niagara Falls passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Monday, October 29, 2007 in his 89th year. Born in Belleville he was a son of the late William R. (Jeff) Cooley and Olive (Wright) Cooley. Bob's parents were born in Ireland and immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's, settling in the Niagara Region. During WWII Bob served with the Canadian Corps of Engineers and was awarded a dispatch for distinguished service. On Aug. 7, 1948 Bob married Dorothy Louise (Doris) Harrod in Niagara Falls where they lived until moving to Stratford in 1965. Bob was employed for over 45 years with Dominion Chain; was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Stratford Branch #8; a life member of the International Association of Machinists and a member of the Stratford Masonic Lodge #332. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He was predeceased by his wife Doris on May 26, 2006. Dear father of Dana William Cooley and friend Elaine Lindsay of Collingwood and the late Brian Michael Cooley. Also survived by daughter-in-law Margie McGibbon and husband Greg of Gadshill; grandchildren Luc & Julia Cooley, Gena Cooley-McGibbon and Jeremy McGibbon; 1 sister Margaret Marshall of North Carolina and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was also predeceased by 1 brother Charles Bruce Cooley. Cremation will take place and a graveside memorial service will be held at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Huron-Perth Lung Association or charity of one's choice through the Heinbuck Funeral Home, 156 Albert St., Stratford.
