DEMPSEY, Iris Mae - (Jan. 8, 1915 - Nov. 5, 2007) - With some sadness mixed with joy and love for a long, mostly healthy life, we announce the loss of our wonderful Mom, Iris Mae Dempsey at the St. Catharines General Hospital with her family at her side. Beloved wife of the late John Dempsey (1980). Dearest Mom of John (Valerie) Dempsey, Sondra (Corney) Penner and Mickie (Tom) Barwell. Loving “Gram“ to John (Andrea) Barwell and Marni (George) Dubiel. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Mary and Oscar Hagar, sister Alta Hale and brothers Frank and Jack Hagar. Cremation has taken place. At Mom's request a private family service has been held. A lifelong member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 372 Merritt Street, St. Catharines L2P 1P6. Mom's wishes were that any memorial donations be made to the Church Fund or a local charity of choice. Special thanks to Dr. Peter Pringle and staff at the Thorold Medical Centre and to the dedicated doctors and nurses of the General Hospital who took excellent care of Mom in her final days. Arrangements are entrusted to the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold L2V 1Y4. “When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in the gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared.
