SPECK, George Petrie - (WWII Veteran) - Passed away peacefully with dignity surrounded by his family, at his Granddaughter Laura's home in Orillia, in his 92nd year. Predeceased by his parents, George and Laura Speck, his ex-wife Bertha May Speck (nee; Welfare) and by his three brothers, Jerald, Bill and Jack. He is survived by his sister Bonnie Holowitz of Niagara Falls. Loving father of Patricia Ann McCabe. Cherished Grandpa to Laura (Ted) Ruttan, Jennifer (John) MacKenzie and Jason McCabe. Loving Great Grandpa of Page and Dawn Ruttan. George will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Beloved friend of Nepher Lewis, Jean James and good neighbor Gary Lidster. George gave a lot of service to the Kawartha Artist Galley and Studio and was responsible for the Life Drawing Group Tuesday Mornings passing on his talent of painting. He put his hand to oils, watercolors, acrylics, collage, sketching and portraits. George currently has paintings at 737 Art Gallery of Tweed, Ontario which can be viewed at www.Studio737.com. Service will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Reception will follow in the Heritage Room at the funeral home. In memory of George, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Kawartha Artist Gallery and Studio would be appreciated by the family. 10901396
