CAPPER, John Alexander. Was born on December 10, 1918 in Montreal and died peacefully at his home in Victoria, BC on October 24, 2007. He was the beloved husband of Shirley; father of Beverley (John), Maureen (Robert); and grandfather (the "wise one") to Meaghan, Marc, Julien and Olivier. He was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy, Eileen and brothers, Alfred and Desmond. John entered McGill in 1940 and left to serve in the Navy in 1942 where he served on a minesweeper, 2 corvettes and a frigate as A/S Officer. At Wars end, he returned to McGill and graduated in 1947 with a B.Com. He joined the family business, WM Capper and Sons the same year until retiring in 1987. There, John acted as a textile agent, representing fine woolen mills in England, Ireland and Scotland. He will be most fondly remembered and missed for his keen intellect, absurd sense of humour, his stoic courage in the face of adversity, generosity of spirit and his unswerving loyalty to those whom he loved and to the principles that he believed in.
