BROWN: Andrew (Andy) Andy Brown of Carbon, AB, formerly Bassano, AB, passed away peacefully March 10, 2007 at the Drumheller Health Center with Maryanne at his side. Andy is survived by his daughters; Maryanne and Lester Stanvick of Carbon, AB, and Colleen and Melvin Newberry of Taber, AB. Grandpa will be remembered by his 4 grandchildren; Sandra Madder, Kimberly and Ashley Maerz, and Celina and Peter Newberry and 5 great grandchildren; Tristan and Trinity Madder, and Kendra, Denisha and Kadence Maerz. He is also survived by his brother, Earl Brown of Victoria, BC; 2 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by his wife, Jean, on December 19, 2000, daughter Debbie on February 22, 1979, parents Peter and Annie Brown, four sisters and five brothers. Andy was born in Swanson, SK on November 15, 1918 and raised in Birsay, SK. He served in World War II as a mechanic. He and Jean (nee Walton) were married February 16, 1946 and moved to Bassano, AB in July 1950 where he lived until December 2002 when he moved to Carbon to live with Maryanne and Lester. In Bassano, he worked for Grant Bodmer, Texaco, Buds Service and lastly John Bergan. Andy enjoyed many happy times fishing at Blood Indian. He was a life member of Bassano Lodge #55, Bassano OES, Bassano Elks, Brooks Legion and Al Azhar Shrine. At Andy’s request there will be no formal service held. Memorial tributes may be made in memory of Andy to the Bassano Health Centre, Bassano, AB, T0J 0B0 or S.T.A.R.S., 1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570, Calgary, AB, T2E 9Z9. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
