Dennis BUDENSKI

BUDENSKI: Dennis 1920 - 2007 Mr. Dennis Budenski, longtime resident of the Drumheller Valley passed away in Drumheller on June 16, 2007 at the age of 87 years. Dennis was born April 8, 1920 to William and Katherina Budenski, right in his grandmother’s home in Newcastle. Dennis took his schooling in East Coulee, after school, he joined the army, spending time at the internment camp in Suffield. It was there that he trained to become a cook. Upon his return, he worked for Miller’s Bakery in East Coulee, Commander Mine in Nacmine, then in the Atlas Coal Mine in East Coulee. Dennis married Annie Charleston on December 31, 1940, the couple had three children, which they raised in the Drumheller Valley. In later years, Dennis worked for Evans Construction in Saskatoon where he was the supervisor of the paving plant. He ended his working career with his son Bill at the Drumheller Radiator Shop as Owner/Operator, he was in charge of the welding shop. Dennis had a real thirst for knowledge, he studied engineering by correspondence, he took a welding course, as well as being a self taught artist who even delivered information speeches on art. At a rather late age, he became very knowledgeable in the world of computers, even educating his daughter. Dennis was very interested in photography, and classical music, especially Beethoven. He was also the president of the Allied Art Council and on the board of the Valley Bus Society. Dennis loved to read history books, he thought that you should learn something from whatever you read, and he also was the head geneologist for the Budenski Family Tree, and his passion was his tomato plants. Dennis was never bored in his retirement, he had so many pastimes to choose from. Dennis was predeceased by his wife Annie on March 20, 1985, his parents, daughter-in-law Shirley, and three brothers-in-law. Dennis leaves behind, his children, William (Terry) of Chilliwack, Henry (Jackie) of Hinton, Ann Howells of Drumheller; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; best friend and companion, Ann Michielin (her son Rick and family); two sisters, Bernice Gilliespie, Alice Gordon; sister-in-law Margaret Nelson; good friend Mike Kochan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a lifetime of friends. Funeral services for Dennis will be held Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. from Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home, with interment to follow in the Drumheller Cemetery. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home are in care of the arrangements.
