Jerry was born in Empress, AB on December 11, 1943. He was raised in Acadia Valley, AB, where his family farmed and then later owned Haahr’s M&M Store. After some moving around, Jerry settled in Drumheller so that he could be near his mom. Here he married Virginia (nee Marshall) of Acadia Valley on March 8, 1969 and carried on to proudly raise their three wonderful children. He worked as a battery operator in the oil and gas industry for 20 years and then entered into semi-retirement, where he became a custodian at St. Anthony’s School. Jerry will most affectionately be remembered for his love of sports, camping, music, crosswords and jigsaw puzzles, but above all else, for the love he had for his family and friends and the treasured time he spent with them. He was predeceased by his father Viggo in 1962, great nephew Ryan in 1983, brother John “Jack” in 2001, father-in-law Jake in 2003, and nephew Patrick in 2006. Left to cherish the wonderful memory of Jerry are his loving wife of 38 years, Virginia; son Bart (Sheryl); daughters Shannon (Cory) and Jodi; six beautiful grandchildren, Taylor, Rory, Macy, Lucas, Kaitlyn and Hailey; his mother Ida; sister Caryl; his uncle Bill; as well as extended family and many friends.
