Lori Anne LEONHARDT

McCABE: Lori Anne Remembering Lori Anne McCabe Lori Anne Leonhardt was born to Lawrence and Agnes in Drumheller, AB on May 18, 1963. She was their second child, preceded by her brother, Brian. She was baptized in Drumheller at Grace Lutheran Church. She grew up on her family’s farm, enjoying her life of farm work and the many animals they kept. Lori participated enthusiastically in 4-H activities. She was an avid sewer, she showed steers in competitions and she enjoyed public speaking. Lori loved to read. Her favourite books were the writings of L.M. Montgomery, author of the Anne of Green Gables series. She also read the Bible, taking special strength and comfort in the Psalms. After moving out on her own, Lori went to college to study to be a Teacher’s Aide. She worked in that field prior to meeting Veryle McCabe. They were married on September 2, 1989 in an outdoor ceremony in Drumheller. During their first married years they lived in Calgary and made a special trip to Prince Edward Island to see the country of Lori’s favourite stories. On November 12, 1992, they were blessed with their first child, daughter Anne Marie, and on February 10, 2000 they welcomed Nytasha into their family. Lori loved her family. Lori fought a long and hard struggle with cancer. She did not want to leave Veryle, Anne Marie and Nytasha. She turned to God for help in her sickness and grew in confidence that He was with her through it all. Early in the morning of June 9, 2007, Lori’s fight with cancer ended, and she rested in the arms of Jesus her Savior. Lori was blessed with many friends. She was especially grateful for those who supported her through the years of her sickness. She will sadly missed by all who knew her.
