Lorraine Marie JANSER

TURNER: Lorraine Marie November 5, 1935 - August 23 , 2007 Lorraine passed away in the Drumheller Hospital on August 23, 2007 with her family by her side, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer. Lorraine was born in Empress, AB to parents Nick and Frances Janser. The family lived in Mendham, SK where her father farmed. She started school in Mendham, then in 1945 she moved to Medicine Hat with her parents. She finished her education in the Hat. She figured beauty culture was to be her vocation, attending Jacobsens Hair Dressing School in Calgary in 1954. At the Calgary Spring Bull Sale she met Jack Turner. They were married on February 28, 1955. They lived on the farm south of Drumheller, where sons Dale and Bruce were born. On April 22, 1960 the family moved to the farm in the Craigmyle/Delia area. Son Darrell was the last addition in 1961. With Lorraine the glass was always half full, never half empty. She loved life. Her family came first. She was very supportive of the sports that we were involved in over the years including hockey, rodeo, fishing, hunting, etc. Lorraine was an excellent cook, usually enough for everybody. She was known for the handcrafted cinnamon buns and regular buns she baked. When she was asked for baked buns for a function in Delia the buns often never made it to the table. The lunch committee women usually hi-jacked them first. You gals know who you are. I think they planned ahead. Hobbies and crafts were her life. There were few crafts that she never mastered. Lorraine taught many hobby and craft classes over the years. She is survived by husband Jack of 52 years; sons Dale and Mitch, Bruce and Brenda, Darrell and Cindy; four grandchildren; 25 nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Nick and Frances Janser; father-in-law Harry Turner; brothers Wendall (Bill) Janser, George Janser and John Janser. Also sisters-in-law Betty Janser and Rose Janser. Brothers-in-law Butch Turner and Don Turner, also predeceased her. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Delia Community Hall. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was held in the Delia Cemetery.
