MILBURN, Douglas Raymond Age 87, passed away peacefully at home in Halifax N.S., on November 3, 2007. He was born in Toronto Ont., son of the late Susan Ann (Mill) and Robert Milburn of Jarrow-on-Tyme, U.K.. Douglas came to Halifax in 1940 for the founding of the HMCS Stadacona Band, of which he was the last surviving original member. He was predeceased by his wife Gertrude Eleanor (Verge) Milburn; and from Toronto his brother John Robert, and his sisters Olive Underwood and Muriel Crawford. He is survived by his sons Robert (Ottawa, Ont.) and Richard; his daughter Barbara Hawkins and her children Laura and James, all of Halifax; and by his sister Margaret Brennan of Toronto; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Douglas was a kind supportive person who will be missed by his children and many others. There will be no visitation, a private ceremony will be held.
