MATHISEN: AGNES HANSINE It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Agnes Mathisen of Fredericton in her 83rd year on October 30th at home. Born in Denmark outside of Copenhagen, she was a daughter of the late Hans and Ane Pedersen and the wife of the late Rolf Mathisen. Agnes was a Registered Nurse and began her career in Canada in the early 50's at the Montreal General Hospital and then worked at the Prince Rupert Hospital in Northern BC. She came to Fredericton in 1954 with husband Rolf where she raised her four children. In 1976 she went back to the Nursing profession for 15 years, working mostly on 3 East at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She retired in 1991. She was an active member of the Fredericton Stepping Stone Seniors Center, The Fredericton Art Club and St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Survived by her children Anne- Lis Mathisen of St. John's, NL; Carl Mathisen (Yannick) of Fredericton; Dr. Brit Mathisen (Dr. Greg Jansen) of Bridgewater, NS; and Nils Mathisen (Kim) of Fredericton; 4 grandchildren Alexandra and Daniel Mathisen, Lisa Jansen and Chris Hodgson; nieces and nephews Ove (Lise) Andersen, Finn (Hanna) Andersen, and Alice Neilsen. Predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Lis Andersen. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, Nov 1 at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Rd. from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Nov 2nd at 11:00 am. Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Rural Cemetery Extension. The family gratefully acknowledges the support provided by the nurses of the NB Extra Mural Program. Without them it would not have been possible to provide the quality of life afforded to Mom in her last months.
