VERONICA McKINNON McKinnon - It is with sadness that the family of Veronica McKinnon announces her passing on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the Kirkland & District Hospital at the age of 78 years. Veronica was predeceased by her husband Alexus “Lucky” McKinnon, father John Tkoch, mother Lily Toderenchuk, step father Nick Toderenchuk and brother William Tkoch. She is survived by her sister Mary Melong and Mary’s children Norm (Rolande) Melong, Nancy (late Bob Blanchfield), Michael (Jill) Melong, Henry (Sally) Melong, David Melong, Darlene (Wayne Hopf), Kathy (Peter Klimstchuck), Kevin (Angie) Melong and Theresa Melong, Veronica was an active person and served on many committees and organizations. She was President of Beta Sigma Phi, Director and Life Member of the Hospital Auxiliary, President of Kiwanis, Director of the Curling Club, President of the Museum Auxiliary, President of the Ladies Section of the Golf Club, 50+ years as a Member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was twice recognized by the Government for her volunteer work. The family will received relatives and friends at the Monette & French Funeral Home on Friday, September 10, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the “Teck-Hughes Chapel” of the Monette & French Funeral Home on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with The Reverend Edna Murdy officiating. Veronica will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Alexus in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. Donations in Veronica’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
