BORSATO, Virginio “Gino“ - In loving memory of Gino Borsato (85 years) of Coniston, who passed away peacefully and with dignity surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site (Palliative Care) after a brief illness but full life. Beloved husband of the late Gemma Santamaria (1995). Loving father of Gianna Graham (husband Keith) of Ottawa; Vally LaFlamme (partner Erik Lovin) of Sudbury; and Rita Punkkinen (husband Allan) of Chelmsford. Proud nonno of Cyndie Gangi (husband Victor) of Boston; Chrissy Graham of Ottawa; Ryan LaFlamme of Toronto; Allison LaFlamme (partner April) of Ottawa; Mikael, Kaila (partner Raymi), and Kory Punkkinen, all of Chelmsford. Cherished great-grandfather of Alexander Graham Gangi. Also survived by his devoted brother Angelo (Anna) of Capreol, loving Zio of Silvana (Fernando Espinosa), Berto (Debbie), Goddaughter Elizabeth (David Damiano), Mario (Stephanie); sister-in-law Palmira (wife of brother Mario predeceased 2001) and 3 nieces in Italy. Gino was born in Treviso Italy September 10, 1922 and, after serving WWII as prisoner of war, came to Canada in February 1949. A lifelong resident of Coniston, Gino worked at Inco as an Industrial Mechanic, retiring in 1984. He then spent many happy years working at K-Mart. Affectionately known as “the bicycle repairman“, he generously shared his time and talent and never refused any job, big or small. Gino had an affinity for clean vehicles, meticulous yard and garden, wine making and socializing. In his retirement years, he enjoyed travelling to his homeland and Cuba especially with his friend Giovanni Bon. His excellent writing and organizational skills led him to volunteer in many groups including Cavalieri della Patria, Trevisani nel Mondo, The Caruso Club and Clug Allegri. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, and he could often be found assisting them. He enjoyed reading, history and story telling and had a great sense of humour. Will be sadly missed by Lina & Bepi Zorzi, cousin Eunice Borsato and countless other friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Andre Roch for his care, compassion and guidance during this difficult time; the Laurentian Hosptial Palliative Care Unit staff; and the St. Joseph's 4th Floor nursing staff. Our most sincere thanks to the 4th Floor Extendicare Falconbridge staff for their superlative care of our Dad during the past 2 1/2 years. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St. Funeral Mass in St. Paul the Apostle Church, Coniston, Saturday, November 17th, 2007 at 11 a.m. Interment in the St. John Cemetery, Garson.
