GÉRARD CHALIFOUX 1946-2004 The family announces with great sorrow his death after a long courageous battle, peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Timmins & District Hospital on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the age of 58 years. Beloved husband of 36 years of Myrelle (nee Archambault). Loving father of Luc (Joëlle) of Timmins, René (Cindy Neil) of Porcupine and Réna (Daniel Clairoux) of Rockland. Cherished grandfather of Geneviève, Brandon, Veronique, Shawn, Mathieu and Daniel. Dear brother of André (Françoise) of Cochrane, Alberta, Léon (Lise) of Penetanguishene, Jean (Brenda) of Brampton, Huguette (Victor) Hoffman of Timmins, Denise (Normand) Julien of Timmins and Nicole (Vic) Shorey of Oshawa. He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Jeanne Archambault as well as sisters and brothers-in-law Pauline (Leo) Beaulne and Cecile Boudreau and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Albert and Berthe Chalifoux and his father-in-law Léo-Paul Archambault. Gérard was a teacher and head of the Math Department at Ecole Secondaire Thériault for many years. Then he worked at Northern College in Timmins as Dean of Business Adminstration for many years. He then was the Principal of the Haileybury School of Mines, where he retired at the age of 51 years. After his retirement, he continued as Principal for College Boreal in Elliot Lake and accepted one last term as Principal for College Boreal in New Liskeard. He was proud of his 33 years in our school system. The family wishes to express a word of thanks to the caring Dr. Cano and his assistant nurse, Dr. Yves Raymond, Dr. Lim, the staff of the Rexall Pharmacy, the department of Oncology in Sudbury and of the Timmins & District Hospital and the Bayshore nurses who were always there when needed. A sincere thank you to the parents and friends who helped us in this difficult time. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. from the St. Sauveur Church. Interment at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery. Remembrance donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Oncology Department of the Timmins & District Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
