FLANNERY, Colleen - It is with extreme sadness that the family of Colleen Flannery announce her passing at the Welland Hospital on Monday November the 25th 2007 at the age of 66. With her loving family by her side she succumbed to cancer after a 3 year battle. Wife and best friend of Mervin Flannery of 46 years. Loving mother of James (Helen), John Todd (Karen), and Rhonda Edwards (Nazeem). Dear grandma to Hannah, Shannon, Shawn, James, Chris, Katie, Aidan and Liam. Colleen will be sadly missed by her sisters Alice Ashcroft (late Jack), Ina Ashcroft (late Bill), Fran Price (Roy), Violet Marois (late Raymond), and her brothers Cecil James (Yvonne), Russell James (Marilyn), and Clifford James (Donna). Her sister in law Maureen Pychel (Mike) and brother in law Gary Flannery (late Les). Colleen had many nieces and nephews whom loved her dearly and she will be sadly missed by them all. She was predeceased by her son Robbie (age 8), her loving mother and father; William and Olive James and her dear mother and father in law; Gorman and Gertrude Flannery. Also, predeceased by her sister Muriel Chernish (late Dennis), and her brother Kenny. When you remember Colleen, you remember laughter and love. She spoke mainly of her children and grandchildren with so much admiration. She was the kind of wonderful soul who would do anything for anybody, even to a fault. Colleen enjoyed crafts of which anyone who knew her has something that she made. This is what everyone will remember when they think of Colleen. The Flannery's would like to thank all their family and friends for their support, with special mention to Yvonne, Cec, Carol and Karen for their extended care over the last months. They would also like to thank those who came to the house to reminisce with Colleen or just to bring her special dinners or treats. Many thanks to the wonderful care given from the CCAC and PARA MED nurses Kim Gatt and Jocelyn Molnar and PSW support of Laurel Horton, the 911 dispatcher, EMS, Welland fire fighters, staff of the Welland Hospital emergency unit and special mention to the staff in the Welland Hospital ICU. Thank You to All. Colleen was employed by her children for most of her life. She enjoyed being home, spending every minute she could with them. When Colleen's kids became teens, she and her long time friend Judy Vittucci owned and operated their own business “The Cresting Place”. It was Colleen's wishes to be cremated with no service. We will all miss her!!!!!! Arrangements entrusted to J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland Colleen's wishes for this Christmas were to have each of her grandchildren donate $25 of their Christmas money to Unicef to Feed the Children and these would be her wishes for donations in her memory, or to a charity of your choice. on line memories and condolences at www.jjpatterson.ca As a memorial tribute, a tree will be planted in Memory Woods.
