Alice Mary PARSONS

FARRAR, Alice Mary Parsons 1911 - 2007 She did it her way Died November 12 at Longfields Manor, Ottawa. A long time resident of Longueuil, Verdun and Ottawa, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years William Charles Farrar (d.1971). She was the loving and generous mother of Wilma (Merritt) Gibson, Canning, NS, Gerry (Jack) Squires, Ottawa, ON and Dianne (d.1993) (Marcel) Braitstein, Hudson Heights, QC. She was the much loved Nana of Cathy Squires, Ottawa, ON; Elizabeth Gibson, Lunenburg, NS; Jamie Gibson (Tracy Horsman), Newtonville, NS; Doug Squires (Bev), Ottawa, ON; Susan Squires (Paul Greene), Ottawa, ON; Glenys Gibson (Ian Paterson), Canning, NS; Paula Braitstein, Kenya; & Lara Braitstein (Shahin Parhami), Montreal, QC and special GG (great grandmother) of Kate and Emma Squires, Ethan, Justin, and Liam Greene, and step GG to Chris and Erinn Squires. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel & Lily (Nichols) Parsons and her brothers Bert, Norman, Ernest and sisters Eileen (Leslie) and Dorothy (Bishop). In her younger years Alice worked at the CNR, Montreal and was a volunteer for many years with the Girl Guides of Canada. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Alice's family and friends have happy memories of times shared with her, including good times at the family cottage at Brome Lake, Christmas celebrations and other family gatherings. A special thank you to the caring and dedicated staff at Longfields Manor. A private family graveside service will take place at Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal at a later date.
