LAIGHT, Charlie (Charles Alfred) WWII Veteran (RCAF) Peacefully in his sleep at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital in Ottawa in his 87th year. Best friend and beloved husband for 60 years of Anne (nee Plishka), father of George, Bob, Ron (Linda Power) and Don (Laura Schening); grandfather of Jessica, Christopher, Kyle, Sarah and Brian; brother to Helen Millar of Stony Plain, Alberta; brother-in-law to Olga MacMillan of Vermillion, Alberta and Elizabeth Henderson (George Kenyon) of Wetaskiwin, Alberta; pre-deceased by his brother Bernie Laight of Hamilton and sister Agnes Gagne, of Spruce Grove; uncle to Chuck & Myrna Gagne, Ruth and Duncan Schoepp, Gerry & Verna Gagne, George Gagne, Fern & Bill Andres, Duncan & Jean MacMillan, Rodena and Darwin Cundliffe, Margaret & Lyle Currie, Barbara-Anne & Robert Snelgrove, Allister & Roxie MacMillan, Chris Millar, Malcolm MacMillan, Kenny and Barb MacMillan, Rosemary MacMillan and Maurice and Heather MacMillan; Wayne and Val Millar, Wendy and Gerrard Kilroe, Gail and Leo Kilroe and Joan and Rob Labrosse. A life long civil servant with Indian and Northern Affairs, Charlie's passions included his grandchildren, his gardens, square dancing, bridge, and day trips in the country. Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Ave at Richmond Road on Monday, November 19th at 11:30am. Reception to follow in the McGarry Family Reception Center. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Queensway-Carleton Hospital Foundation at 613-721-4731 would be appreciated.
