WHALLEY, Basil Retired Energy, Mines and Resources World War II Veteran At home in the Colonel By Retirement Residence, Basil J. P. (Baz) Whalley, in his 90th year. Predeceased by two brothers, George (Elizabeth) and Peter (Barbara), sister Cecelia (the late Lenn) Speight, as well as a daughter, Margot (Chris) Bruce. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Joan (Cunningham), daughters Barbara (Gord) Lovelace and Rosalind, sons Michael (Roberta) and Frank as well as four grandchildren. Born February 24, 1918, in Kingston, Ontario, Basil attended Dalhousie and McGill Universities to earn his PhD. Served as an artillery officer in Europe during World War II. Enjoyed a long career with Energy, Mines and Resources and more than 40 years as a member of Trinity Anglican Church. A service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 27 at Trinity, 1230 Bank St. at Cameron. The family wishes to thank, for their care and support, the staff and residents of Colonel By Retirement Residence, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, the DVA, CCAC, Drs. Warrick, Eapen and Aldridge and all those who provided guidance, comfort and assistance. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Centre or any charity of your choice would be appreciated.
