LAHEY, HAZEL RUTH- Hazel Ruth Lahey 1910-2007 passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital Monday November 26, 2007. Born in Woodwards Cove she was the daughter of the late George and Hattie (Willigar) Ingersoll. Hazel worked with her husband Wilfred at their general store in North Head until his passing in 1969, and then she went on to take the position of Dean of Women at St. Thomas University from 1971 until her retirement in 1990. She was a member of the Church of the Ascension and was very active with Sunday school programs and the Ladies Guild. Survived by her two daughters Mary (Norman) Stewart of Pennfield, NB, Pamela (Fraser) Forsythe of Millidgeville, NB; one sister, Twilah Leonard of South West Harbour ME; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren, many nieces nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred; one son Burton; four sisters, Erma Carter, Viola Lahey, Marjorie Guptill, Lois Brown; as well as, four brothers, Maurice, Richard (Dick), Sherwood, Kerman, and Weldon. The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the Church of the Ascension on Friday November 30, 2007 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Captain Dana Dean officiating. Interment will follow at the North Head Community Cemetery. There will be a reception to follow at the Covert Hall and all are welcome to attend following the service. Donations may be made to the Hazel Lahey Memorial Award St. Thomas University, and also the Church of the Ascension Memorial Fund.
