Steven Hector MACKAY

Steven Hector MacKay May 27, 1955 - November 09, 2007 Peacefully on November 9, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer, at his home surrounded by his loving family, our husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle and brother, Steven Hector MacKay, aged 52, passed away while in the arms of his wife, Thelma and his mother, Jessie. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Thelma; his daughters, Jennifer, Viola and Sophia; step-children, Kevin (Lorri), Terina (Jeff) and Melinda (Eric); grandchildren, Eden, Ashley, Paige, Monique, Faith and Lawson; his mother, Jessie; brothers, Bill (Chris), Gary (Rita), and Dan (Cheryl); 12 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Steve was predeceased by his father, Harry; and by his sister, Penny. Steve was a great athlete. He especially enjoyed playing hockey and golf. He would train all year to compete in the annual Treaty marathon race, which he won several times. Steve loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He would take them on camping trips, and he taught them to play the piano. Steve worked as a mechanic for 30 years, and then went on to become a health care aide. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Gary Harding, Steve’s nurse Cindy, the home care nurses, especially, Cheryl Kohoko, the Percy E. Moore Hospital staff, Sister Agnes Jolicoeur from Fisher Branch who always came to pray for Steve (and performed communion with Steve), Ozzie and Freda Thomas who came to visit often while he was sick, and our family and friends. Pallbearers will be Micheal MacKay, Bobby MacKay, Jamie Saliga, Steven MacKay, Nathan MacKay and Tyson MacKay. Wake service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Peguis, with Pastor Ron Favell officiating. Interment to follow at the Wesleyan Methodist Cemetery.
