Byrne, James George - The death of James George Byrne of Saint John, beloved husband of Mary Therese (Barry) Byrne, occurred on Sunday, November 18, 2007, at home after a long illness, surrounded by loving family members. Born in Saint John on May 20, 1925, he was the son of James Edward and Lucretia Mary (Rouse) Byrne. George was a Plumbing Contractor, managing his own business for many years until his retirement several years ago. He possessed a unique wit and charm, and an indomitable spirit. George was a friend of Bill W. for more then fifty years and was known for his great generosity toward those in need. He is survived by his children, Mary Byrne, John (Lisa) Byrne, Monica Byrne (Kamal) all of Saint John, and Elizabeth (Malcolm) Byrne-Zwicker of Fredericton; daughter-in-law, Margo Beckwith-Byrne of Saint John; one sister, Lois Nugent of Fredericton and nine grandchildren, Jay, Liam, Sarah, Patrick, Edward, Kristen, Matthew, Lucas, and Alexa; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Patrick Edward (1966) and James George Jr. (2002); and a sister, Beryl Mary Wright (2006). Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Thursday, November 22, 2007 at 1 pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery on Friday, November 23 at 11 am.
