DEVOLIN, George Edgar - At Caressant Care Nursing Home, Marmora, on Sunday, December 2, 2007. George Edgar Devolin, of Madoc, in his 93rd year. Beloved husband for 70 years of Hilda Mary Holmes. Father of Donna (Peter) Lloyd, Greensboro, GA; Douglas (June), Haliburton; and Darrel (friend Betty), Bobcaygeon. Brother of Grant (Marna), Belleville. Predeceased by parents, Robert and Sylvia (Oldfield) and brothers and sisters, Walter (Gert), North Bay; Robert (Ella), Madoc; Ernest (Mabel), Madoc; Alice Derry (Gordon), Marmora; Thomas (Margaret), Marmora; Gordon (Margaret), Belleville; Jean, Madoc; and Raymond, Belleville. Abundantly loved by grandchildren, Brent (Laurie), Minden; Barry (Ursula), Haliburton; Jennifer (Ken), Stoney Creek; and Jeffery (Kim), Bobcaygeon; and great grandchildren, Kurran, Lauren, Spencer, Alexander, Jordyn, George and Molly. George lived a contented, pain-free, active life almost to the end. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cards and especially gardening and family functions. George served his community well as a school board member and chair, the volunteer fire department for 30 years, partly as deputy chief, the Chamber of Commerce as president, the Oddfellows Lodge as Noble Grand, a member of the Masonic Lodge, secretary-treasurer of the Intermediate C hockey club, and a member and board member of Trinity United Church for over 50 years. His reputation of generosity to those in need as a grocer, with the assistance of his wife Hilda and family, was widely appreciated. George will be ever remembered by his many friends and family. The family will receive friends at the McConnell Funeral Home, Madoc, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral Service at Madoc Trinity United Church on Saturday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m. Spring Interment Lakeview Cemetery.
