D'AMORE, Giovanni (John) - Peacefully after a brief illness with his family at his side on Monday, December 10, 2007 at St. Catharines General Hospital at 84 years of age. Beloved husband of Irene for 49 years, loving father of Maria Teresa (Tony) Scappaticci and Pat (Marilu) D'Amore. Nono will be missed by his loving grandchildren Diana, Steven, Sarah, Erica and Spencer, dear brother of Pietro (Domenica) and Celestina (the late Pasquale) of Italy, brother-in-law of Anita (the late Arturo) Vendittelli and Evelina (Mike) Colacarro of St. Catharines, Romilda (the late Lucio) and Maria (Antonio) of Italy. Predeceased by brothers Eduardo and Vincenzo and sisters Ersilia, Teresa and Assunta. He will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Giovanni enjoyed many years tending to his garden after retiring from Port Weller Dry Docks. He was a veteran having served in WWII. Family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. until Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred's Church at 12 noon with Rite of Committal at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Visiting Hours Tuesday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Vigil Prayers for Giovanni will be celebrated in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or Lung Association.
