DOW, Roderick (Bell Canada - Retired) March 5, 1928 - December 6, 2007 On Thursday, December 6, 2007, a wonderful husband and father passed away after a courageous battle with leukemia and COPD. Roderick is survived by his cherished wife and best friend, Carol (Covert), his adored children, Heather (Doug), Ann (Dwayne) and Robert (Nicole) and his precious grandchildren Kate, Robb, Erick, Sam, Callum and Kevin. Roderick was a compassionate, kind and loving man who was devoted to his family. All who knew him will sadly miss his gentle spirit and sense of humour. Roderick had a passion for knowledge and an amazing sense of wonder in life. According to his last wishes there will not be a funeral instead his body will be donated to science so that knowledge may be gained about the diseases that ravaged his body in later years. Roderick will be forever remembered for his words "where are you from?" that grew from his interest in people and places in the world. The family wishes to thank Drs. R. Glinski and M. Forgie for their dedication and care as well as the many nurses, caregivers, and doctors that looked after Roderick while he was at the Civic hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Canadian Lung Association. Published in the Ottawa Citizen on 12/8/2007
