OBITUARY ANTHONY (TONY) MALO JULY 8, 1928 - DECEMBER 6, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony, a dear husband and wonderful Dad, in the company of loved ones, after a very courageous and private battle with Parkinson's disease. He leaves to mourn, his wife of fifty-two years, Shirley Connors, his son Peter (Susan Reid), and his daughter Susan (Cedric Ortiguera). Loving Grampa to Caitlyn, Justin, Peter Jr. and Nellie. Predeceased by his parents William Malo and Giselda Ricci, his brother Nello, sister-in-law Lucy, and nephew Michael. Tony was born and raised in NDG. Throughout his younger years, he was an outstanding athlete and perennial all star in baseball, football and hockey. It was his talent as a hockey player that earned him a scholarship to play hockey and study at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he graduated with a degree in Business in 1951. Tony went on to play professional hockey in Wembley, England for a year before returning to Montreal where he met and married Shirley, and started his career in the plumbing and heating wholesale industry. Tony joined the family business and went on to become the owner and president of Nelco Inc for over fifty years. Tony is highly respected within the industry for his integrity and professionalism. He served a term as Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating. Tony spent time away from the office raising a family, skiing, golfing, and working in the garden. He was a member of The Royal Montreal Golf Club for over thirty years. Tony was a gentleman, a kind, soft spoken, generous man who never said no to anyone, but most of all, Tony was a patient man! The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers, nurses, and doctors at both Chateau Westmount and the Montreal General Hospital, for all their caring and kindness, as well as to all of Dad's many friends for their expressions of caring over the last few years. Special thanks to Louise and Ken, Peter and Barbara. A word of thanks to the MGH Pastoral Service for the comfort provided to Dad and the family. Visitation to take place Monday and Tuesday, December 10 and 11 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White, 5610 Sherbrooke St. West. Service to be held Wednesday, December 12 at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, 4455 West Broadway, (corner Terrebonne) at 10:30 a.m. After a reception at the church, interment will follow at Cote-des-Neiges Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in keeping with Tony's generous spirit, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research www.michaeljfox.org or Parkinson Society Canada www.parkinson.ca or to the charity of your choice. Keep the faith Dad, we love you.
