LONG, Helen Elaine (nee Beehler) At the age of 91, Helen ended her struggle with Alzheimers by quietly slipping away on Sunday, December 9, 2007. Predeceased by her brothers Charles, Bill (William) and Frank (Francis) Beehler and her sister Beatrice (Kert/Houlahan). Helen will be deeply missed by her surviving family including her sisters Leah (Connor), Eileen (Hall) and Lillian (Girolami) and their families, as well as her many friends. A native of Brockville, Ontario, Helen was born February 23, 1916. She lived and worked in Ottawa, Washington, D.C., Guatemala City and the Bahamas before retiring to Ottawa. Her sense of fun and gift of friendship will be remembered by all who knew her, including her former neighbours and friends in Amberwood and Stittsville where she lived for many years. Sincere thanks to the staff of West End Villa whose care and compassion did much to ease her final months. There will be no visitation but a memorial service will be held in the new year.
