BERRY, RAYE D. - The family of Raye Berry wish to announce his death on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the age of 86. He was born in Moncton, the son of the late Roy and Ida Berry (Friars). Raye is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Price), but better known as Betty. They celebrated their 65th anniversary earlier this year. He is also survived by a son, Ron (Carol) of Riverview; and daughters, Judy Gillis (Rod) of Quispamsis and Jane Bustin (Doug), Moncton. He is also survived by a brother, Jack Berry of Windsor Ontario. Raye and Betty have 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Douglas; a sister, Dorothy Huson; and a grandson, David Berry. He was the 2nd of 4 generations of R. D. Berry's. Raye was a commercial traveler for 42 years having worked for Colgate, Palmolive and Johnson & Johnson. He was a founding member of the United Commercial Travelers Moncton branch and was honoured a few years ago as one of a few last surviving founders. He was also a member of the Keith Lodge #23, F & AM and the Scottish Rite. Raye is probably best known as a storyteller wherever he could find an audience. That audience could have been found at one of several coffee shops - Milton's Diner, Deluxe or one of his camps. He loved being on the road and selling. He had been an avid fisherman and game hunter mostly in his beloved Albert County. He enjoyed gardening and golfing in the summer and bowling in the winter. During his family rearing days he enjoyed trailering at the 'Hole' in Fundy or Bennett Lake. After retirement in 1983, Betty and he enjoyed Pamana City Beach, Florida for many winters. He was a very enthusiastic person in life and always had to be on the go. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel Friday, December 14, 2007 at 1:30 pm, Rev. Gordon Poley officiating. Reception following the service. In Raye's memory donations may be made to the CNIB, the Sunny Brae Baptist Church or to the donor's choice. Online condolences at www.fergusonknowlesfh.com December 13, 2007
