LEAMAN, HAYDEN LEBARON - At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday December 16, 2007 Hayden LeBaron Leaman of Fredericton passed away at the age of 80. Born in Lords Cove, Deer Island, NB on June 16,1927 he was a son of the late Morton and Gertrude (Pendleton) Leaman. He graduated from Deer Island Consolidated School; NB Normal School, Fredericton; UNB Fredericton (BA &B Ed);Columbia University, New York (MA); University of Leeds, England (Diploma, English Studies); Universite Laval, Quebec (Diplome, Francais). Hayden was also a student at Mount Allison University (Canadian History); University of London, England (Beaverbrook Overseas Scholar); St. Thomas University, Fredericton (Spanish). He was a High School Teacher in NB at St. George, St. Andrews and Moncton; a High School Principal in NB at Back Bay-Letete, Lawrence Station, Dorchester & Port Elgin Regional; a Professor at New Brunswick Teachers College & UNB Fredericton (English and English Education); UNB Extension and English Language Programme; Mount Allison University Summer School (Educational Psychology); CIIDIR, Oaxaca, Mexico (English); a consultant for the NB Department of Education (Secondary English curriculum & Competence in English Testing); Honorary Research Associate, UNB (thesis reader & UNB-Mexico Relations); Executive Board Member: Canadian Council of Teachers of English. He is survived by his wife, Marion (Horton); three children, Margaret Forster (Jeremy), Rebecca Leaman (Rick Atkinson), Karl Leaman (Mary Hall) all of Fredericton; one granddaughter, Emily Leaman of Fredericton; numerous nieces. He was also predeceased by three brothers. The family will receive friends at Bishop's Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Friday December 21, 2007 at 2:00 pm with Father Anthony Kwaw officiating. Interment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
