NESBIT, GLADYS JEAN - The death of Gladys Jean Nesbit, wife of the late Christie 'Chris' Nesbit, occurred on December 18, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Anslie and Evadene (Branscombe) Thorne. She was a lifelong resident of Saint John, a member of Tabernacle United Baptist Church and a member of the senior Missionary Society. A caring, kind and capable mother, she lived an exemplary life practising the love and virtues in which she believed. Surviving are her sons, Beverley (Anna) of Saint John, Wayne C. (Carol) of St John's, NF; her sisters, Dawn Johnson of Plaster Rock, NB, Eileen Buzan (William) of Calgary, AB, Barbara Lamb, of Dartmouth, NS, Catherine Crockett (James) of Ancaster, ON; brothers, Kenneth A. (Ruby) Thorne of Vancouver, BC, Russell V. (Eunice) Thorne of Edmonton, AB, Robert Thorne (Shirlee) of Innisfail, AB, George Thorne (Debbie) of Thompson, MN; grandchildren, Donald (Mary-Jo) and Sharon, of Saint John, James (Kim) of Acton, ON, Bruce (Stephenie) of Coldstream, NS, Lori (Chris) Miller of Fredericton, Christie of St. John's, NF; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step-mother, Hilda Thorne; sisters, Marie Davidson and Margaret Johnson; and her brother, Edward A. Thorne. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:15 pm from Brenans Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
