MARTIN, Ora Marie (nee Cameron/Cumming) - Passed away peacefully after a long illness on December 20, 2007 at Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury, Ontario. Ora was born February 16, 1929 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. She moved to Capreol, Ontario in 1952 where she worked as a school teacher at CR Judd Elementary School in Capreol, Ontario. She retired with the Sudbury Board of Education in 1987, after 35 years. Ora joined Vermillion Rebekah Lodge #289 in 1962 where she was the past Noble Grand and Deputy District President. She was also a member of the Trinity United Church. Ora was an avid curler and golfer who also enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and playing on the computer. Ora is predeceased by her father, Owen Kennedy Cameron of Big Island, Nova Scotia (deceased in 1950); her mother Bessie May Callaghan of Port Shorem, Nova Scotia (deceased 1973); her brother John Edward Cameron (deceased 1988) of Big Island, Nova Scotia and his wife Agnes, her sister Helen Agusta Fraser (deceased in 1998) of Hopewell, Nova Scotia and her sister's husband Weldon (deceased in 1992). Ora is also predeceased by her first husband George Arnold Cumming (deceased in 1974), of Piedmont, Nova Scotia and her son Lawrence Edward Cumming (deceased in 1981). Ora is survived by her husband Norman Martin of Carpeol, her son Gerald Richard Cumming of Capreol and his wife Louise, step-mother to Shelley (husband Peter Fiset) of Sudbury, Judy (husband Danny Cormier) of Elk Lake, and Candice (husband Lawrence Johnston) of Vernon, B.C., grandson Andrew George Cumming of Toronto, granddaughter Carol Ann Cumming of Toronto, granddaughter Tina Anne Marie Cumming of Toronto, great-grandson Kevin James Cumming of Toronto, step-grandchildren Paul and Julie. Loving sister-in-law of Catherine (husband Dave Watson) of Thedford, Ontario and various nephews and nieces. Ora was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Trinity United Church in Capreol, on Friday, December 28th, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. Donations to the Rebekah Lodge, Capreol and Dialysis Unit at the SRH-Laurentian Site. (Friends may gather at the church after 12:30 p.m. Friday). Interment of cremains to follow at Capreol Cemetery.
