MITCHELL, John Reginald - July 31, 1926 - January 6, 2008 - Professional Engineer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Providence Continuing Care Centre, Mental Health Services in his 82nd year. John was born on July 31st, 1926 in Devon, England. After a 15 year career in the Royal Navy, John emigrated with his family to Canada. He had a more than 40 year career as a Marine Engineer with the Ministry of Transport in the Steamship Inspection Division for the St. Lawrence Seaway. Based in Kingston since 1967, John has been both a keen golfer, avid curler and belonged to the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. His pride and joy were his poolside gardens in Collins Bay. He was the beloved husband of Louise and loving father of Deborah, Peter (Jeannie), Julia (George Boileau), Stephen (Alison), David (Ann), and Andrew Mitchell; and proud grandfather of nine, Colin, Jamie, Megan, Nick, Chloe, Emily, Cristian, Christopher and Kelly. Also survived by his family in England. Family and friends will be received at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd.) on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service to be in the Chapel on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 11 a.m., followed by cremation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Alzheimer's Society or the U.H.K.F. Providence Continuing Care Centre, Mental Health Services would be appreciated by the family (donations by cheque only please). 10954602
