HARVEY, Helen (nee: Melanson) - Passed away suddenly and peacefully on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at the age of 74 years, at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital from a stroke. Helen was predeceased by her parents Irene and Napolean Melanson and survived by her younger brother Everett of Bathurst, NB where she was born on June 10, 1933. She was married in August of 1958 and moved to Ontario where she became the mother of 3 children, Cheryl (Rick) Henderson, Susan Clerk, and David (April) Harvey. She was an active member of the Collingwood Legion (Branch 63) and follower of St. Mary's Church. She was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's and moved to the Chartwell retirement home in Collingwood. Among her many talents were her love of socializing, knitting, baking and activities such as pool, lawn bowling, and darts. A warm and caring person, she will be greatly missed by her surviving children, friends, and 6 grandchildren, Ryan and Justin McIntyre, Alex Clerk, and Andrew, Melissa, and Dylan Harvey. Friends met with the family at Fawcett Funeral Homes, 82 Pine Street, Collingwood, Ontario on Sunday, January 6, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass was held at the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 63 Elgin Street, Collingwood, on Monday, January 7, 2008, at 11:00 am.
